The Coachouse

The 18th Century Coach House in Palmerstown, combines old tradition with new contemporary design. It opened to the public on the 6th December 2004 and was officially opened by An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern TD.

The Coach House is a new and innovative project of Stewarts Care Ltd, which offers an outreach programme for rehabilitative training and sheltered employment for people with learning disabilities.

The Coach House is situated in the middle of Palmerstown village fronting onto the Old Lucan Road. Today there is no trace of the coaches or teams of horses which it was originally built to accommodate as such things are long forgotten, part of more sedate and elegant times past. Today it is home to a treasure trove of beautifully designed hand crafted pottery, ceramics and textiles many made by Stewarts Workshops.

The Craft Shop presents an array of different gift ideas for all occasions. The theme changes in the shop according to the different seasons. The Coach House is also home to a bright new restaurant. The design is modern and spacious and diners are encouraged to relax and enjoy the fine range of mouth-watering cuisine in the bright sunny conservatory.

There is also an education room upstairs in The Coach House and a craft room where they make many different hand crafted products for the Craft Shop. The Coach House is a facility for entertainment and relaxation and the perfect point of contact for friends, family and the local community.

Every Friday there is live music on between 7pm-9pm in the Conservatory where both service users of stewarts and the local community can come and enjoy the great atmosphere.


On Thursday nights there are different activities on at The Coach House between 7pm-9pm including a Flower Club, Line Dancing, Salsa Dancing, Cookery Demonstrations, Wine Tasting and many more events which are advertised weekly with posters on our notice board.

We also have Seasonal live entertainment at lunchtime, which is advertised in advance. All in all The Coach House is alive with loads of activities.
