The Organisation:

Stewarts Care is a long-established voluntary organisation providing comprehensive community-based services to people with intellectual disabilities in the West Dublin area.

We support people with a wide range of support needs across residential settings, day services, supported independent living, job advocacy and vocational training.

Purpose of the Post:

The position will be based at Stewarts Sports and Adapted Physical Activity Centre and duties will include teaching swimming at various levels from beginner to lengths, lifeguarding, general cleaning and other duties.

Candidates must meet the following criteria relevant to the role:

  • Understanding, interest and commitment in working in the area of Intellectual Disability.

  • Full or Assistant Swim Teaching qualification is desirable but not essential.

  • A Pool Lifeguard Qualification would be an advantage.

  • Ability to teach a wide range of fitness classes/swim teaching classes.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills. 

  • Have excellent social and inter-personal skills.

Salary and qualifications are in accordance with Department of Health consolidated pay scales. Salary Scale is Clerical Officer, Grade III: €27,145-€44,113 incl LSI per annum.

Job Purpose

The position will be based at Stewarts Sports and Adapted Physical Activity Centre and duties will include teaching swimming at various levels from beginner to lengths, lifeguarding, general cleaning and other duties.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach swimming lessons at various levels from beginner to lengths.

  • Lifeguarding.

  • Provide support on reception as required.

  • Carry out Cleaning Duties as required.

  • Any other duties as required to support efficient operations in the Sports Centre.

Remuneration

Remuneration is in accordance with the Department of Health consolidated pay scales. 

Salary and qualifications are in accordance with Department of Health consolidated pay scales. Salary Scale is Clerical Officer, Grade III: €27,145-€44,113 incl LSI per annum.

Annual leave

22 days

Working week

The hours allocated to this post are a minimum 8 hours up to 39 hours per week. The allocation of these hours will be at the discretion of the Sports Centre Manager and in accordance with the needs of the service.

Probation

All employees will be subject to a probationary period of 6 months, with an extension if required to 9 months. This probationary period applies to all employees irrespective of their role or type of role.

Garda Vetting

Stewarts will carry out Garda vetting on all new employees. An employee will not take up employment with the organisation until the Garda Vetting process has been completed and the organisation is satisfied that such an appointment does not pose a risk to the Service Users and employees.
