The Organisation:
Stewarts Care is a long-established voluntary organisation providing comprehensive community-based services to people with intellectual disabilities.
We support people across a wide range of services within residential settings, day services, supported independent living, job advocacy and vocational training.
Purpose of the Post:
The purpose of the role is to establish and maintain a research programme and culture within Stewarts Care, to promote the achievement of the organisations goals. Working with the Director and team members across the organization, the Research Programme Manager will be responsible for planning and overseeing a research programme for the benefit of all people Stewarts Care supports.
Candidates must meet the following criteria relevant to the role:
• Hold a related health or social care qualification at degree level or higher. Maintains annual registration on the relevant professional board eg CORU, NMBI, PSI, Medical Council.
• Completed research at PhD level and published internationally (holder of a PHd or in advanced stage of completion of PHd).
• Experience working in front line service provision in disability, health or social care for a minimum of 12 months
• Experience overseeing junior researchers in their work.
• Collaborated previously with university-based and contracted researchers.
• Strong vision and insights into what research is relevant for disability services.
• An understanding of the operational requirements for a successful research programme.
• Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills, both written and oral.
• Strong organisation and time management skills.
• Positive, effective, and progressive leader within groups.
• Proficiency working with data protection and ethical considerations.
• Excellent organisational skills including a proven ability to work to deadlines.
• Strong ability to engage and inspire learners in their journey.
• Have knowledge and understanding of legislation, policies and procedures as relevant to the role and relevant to conduct of research with persons with disabilities.
• Access to own transport.
Salary and qualifications are in accordance with Department of Health consolidated pay scales Occupational Therapist Manager In Charge 3. Current Salary Scale: €81,770-€89,998

Job Purpose
The purpose of the role is to establish and maintain a research programme and culture within Stewarts Care, to promote the achievement of the organisations goals. Working with the Director and team members across the organization, the Research Programme Manager will be responsible for planning and overseeing a research programme for the benefit of all people Stewarts Care supports.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Promote the translation of research into practice and practice into research.
• Interpret gaps and trends in the disability sector to develop research objectives and proposals.
• Lead the definition of organisational and directorate / service specific research areas.
• Contribute to the regional research agenda.
• Define and expand on the existing research capacity and potential within the organisation, across both medical and biopsychosocial fields.
• Develop and support internal service user and public involvement mechanisms.
• Promote and facilitate continuous development of employees along the research agenda, to assist and support all levels of research, from sourcing evidence onwards.
• Organize an annual research conference with research partners and support employees and people with ID attending and presenting at conferences.
• Cultivate wide external research networks and relationships, with national and international academic institutions, and facilitate connections for employees.
• Promote the value of being a research led organisation.
• Coordinate with other provider organizations on joint research
• Identify and access national and international research funding.
• Coordinate a research ethics committee and research advisory sub-committee.
• Optimise the communication and publication of research at local, national and international levels.
• Establish a proposal for the further development of the research office.
• Report on progress annually, to include health economics.

Desirable criteria:
1. Experience in intellectual disability preferable
2. Experience working in a tutoring or educator role and has educated on research skills

Remuneration
• Current Salary Scale: €81,770-€89,998. Aligned to DOH consolidated pay scale Occupational Therapist Manager In Charge 3. Your salary is paid monthly (16th unless when 16th falls on Saturday or Sunday you are paid on the Friday prior to the 16th) by direct credit transfer into any Bank or Building Society of your choice where the paypath system operates.
• Salaries and increments are paid in accordance with DOH salary scales pro-rata.
Annual leave
• 30 calendar days
Working week
• The hours allocated to this post are 35 hours per week, exclusive of lunch breaks.
• The allocation of these hours will be at the discretion of the Clinical Director and in accordance with the needs of the service.
Probation
• All employees will be subject to a probationary period of 6 months, with an extension if required to 9 months. This probationary period applies to all employees irrespective of their role or type of role.
Garda Vetting
• Stewarts will carry out Garda vetting on all new employees. An employee will not take up employment with the organisation until the Garda Vetting process has been completed and the organisation is satisfied that such an appointment does not pose a risk to the service users and employees.
