Teacher Role – Stewarts School
Stewarts School, located in west Dublin, provides education and learning to students with moderate, severe, and profound general learning difficulties. Many students have complex needs including physical, behavioural, and sensory difficulties. A high number of students are also on the autistic spectrum.
Stewarts School has been specifically developed to meet the complex needs of its community and features 28 purpose-built classrooms, 4 sensory areas, dedicated meeting rooms, an IT room, a PE hall, a library, outdoor play areas and a canteen. Stewarts School is now one of the largest special schools of its kind in Ireland. The new school serves 140 pupils and employs 23 teachers, 63 special needs assistants, 3 nurses, and a support team of 3 employees.
Overview of the Post:
Through education, the school seeks to provide each individual pupil with the relevant and appropriate opportunities and experiences to reach their full potential and to become valued and active members of society.
The primary school curriculum is followed and post-primary aged students engage in the Junior Cycle Level 1 Programme. As the school offers primary and second level programmes all applicants appropriately registered with the Teaching Council are eligible for consideration.
Candidates must meet the following criteria relevant to the role:
Current & continuing Teaching Council Registration
Experience working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge and experience of PECS, Lámh and positive behaviour strategies is an advantage
Remuneration offered is determined by the Department of Education regulations. The school participates in the Droichead Programme for newly qualified teachers.
