St Mary’s College RFC and Stewarts Care join forces!
St Mary’s College RFC are delighted to announce that they have finally formed their very first disability tag rugby team! With the support of Stewarts Care, and in particular CEO Brendan O’Connor and Fundraising Manager/Head Coach Dean Rock, the team has taken shape in recent months.
On the 2nd March 2019, the club was officially launched - the first game was played against DLSP Eagles as a warm up to the AIL game against Old Belvedere. Supporters of both clubs witnessed a great spectacle of tag rugby from start to finish. Although this was a friendly game, both teams played with great heart and pride in their respective jerseys.
The President of St Mary’s College RFC, Jack Ebbs, was very impressed with the team’s ability to play free flowing tag rugby:
The ball was quickly moved across the park, reminiscent of many of the great St Mary’s teams. It was a great day for the club but most importantly, rugby.
Patrick Crawford, Honorary Secretary of St Mary’s College RFC, expressed:
We deeply appreciate Stewarts Care for bringing a number of players to the team as we seek more participants from the local area. Great credit is due to Dean, his coaching team and the players for making this happen.
St Mary’s College RFC will be holding a blitz in the summer months and ask that fellow teams keep an eye out for more information on both the St Mary’s College RFC and the Stewarts Care websites. The blitz allows for all rugby fans, young and old, to join the club on the day and witness the incredible talent on display.
St Mary’s College RFC and Stewarts Care are very proud of the newly formed team and wish the players well in their pursuit of success in the coming months and years ahead.
