St Patrick's Day Parade 2019 in Palmerstown

28 March 2019
Cllr Mark Ward, Lord Mayor of South Dublin, and Dean Rock

On Wednesday 13th March 2019, our annual St Patrick’s Day parade took place. Starting from the Stewarts Sports Centre at 11am, it was led by the Garda Band and travelled through the village of Palmerstown towards Stewarts Hospital. Cllr Mark Ward, Lord Mayor of South Dublin, was in attendance and commented on how successful this event was:

One of my best days since becoming Mayor at the Stewart’s Hospital St Partick’s Parade in Palmerstown. Beautiful colour to match the beautiful people. Fair play to Dean Rock, my sister Edel, all staff and service users for a magical morning.

The theme of the parade was ‘Climate Change’ and a huge effort went into the preparation of the floats and costumes, which were developed by a Climate Change Officer from Green Schools, An Taisce.

Well done and thanks to everyone who came out on the day to support the service users, staff and local community. This event would not have been possible without the invaluable support of our own volunteers and marshals. A special thanks to the Ulster Bank volunteers, whose assistance was greatly appreciated.
