Stewarts Library
Public Services
The Stewarts Care Library is dedicated to providing a high-quality library and information facility for our employees, the people we support and the wider Palmerstown community.
Open to the public, the John J Jennings Library, located in the grounds of Stewarts Care, Mill Lane, operates in partnership with South Dublin Libraries. We offer access to an extensive range of fiction, non-fiction, DVDs, audio books, and children's materials. Additionally, members can access online resources such as eBooks and audiobooks. The library provides various services, including PC access, printing facilities, study spaces, events, and book clubs.
Stewarts Employees
For Stewarts Care employees and students, we offer a wide selection of books specifically focused on intellectual disability and intellectual disability nursing.
The library subscribes to CINAHLplus, Medline, PsychINFO, Psychological, and Behavioural Sciences.
Research Assistance: If you need help finding articles for assignments or theses, or wish to improve your database searching skills and referencing, we offer one-to-one or small group research assistance.

Joining the Stewarts Care Library is simple and can be done in two ways:
- Visit the library in person with proof of address and ID to receive your library card.
- Join online by visiting www.sdcc.ie/en/services/sport-and-recreation/libraries/join-library-login/ and click Join Library.
During the process, make sure to select South Dublin Stewarts as your home library.
Note: If you already hold a valid public library card from any location in the country, you are ready to use our library.
Accessibility Information:
The Stewarts Care Library is fully wheelchair accessible, equipped with ramps and accessible bathrooms. We provide a range of multi-sensory items, such as bag books and story sacks, to create an immersive story experience suitable for all abilities. We are also JAM Card friendly, which allows individuals with hidden disabilities or communication barriers to discreetly request extra time and understanding.
